You can call me Melis.

five/thirty-one/two thousand and twelve

Abba, you are so good. My heart is no longer heavy.  I’m just free. I’m so free to be bold in you, to be confident in who you’ve created me to be! I never thought this day would come, but you helped my unbelief! Thank you. There is no way I would be able to say these words right now, without you.

Today a girl at my work told me she broke up with her boyfriend because he couldn’t forgive her. Some things do take time and when your trust is broken, that’s hard. “No relationship can work unless you both know how to forgive -a lot,” I told her in reflection. She agreed. Later, I reflected on my own pride and need to ask forgiveness from someone, and how hard that is when maybe you haven’t done anything actually wrong, but to the person it happened to… it begs forgiving. Maybe it meant something you didn’t mean. Does it matter more who’s right, or getting your relationship right with them? Mend the hurts, the wrongdoings, so bitterness or anger can’t grow between you. How much that apology means to the other person is worth being humbled and giving up your own justification by simply apologizing sincerely because you care for them.
“Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.” - 1 Peter 4:8
